Did you mean Shake Shack? They were supposed to be adding a Steak 'n Shake in downtown SLC but that seems to have disappeared. If you meant Shake Shack it's supposed to open this summer. They also announced a second location for the Salt Lake City Airport expansion.
SOooooo I know a little about this subject... My father was the one that opened the one Steak n' Shake here in Utah... He worked his Butt off making sure that it went well, but upper management doesn't know and understand the restaurant business. They only know the gas station business and that's what they where trying to do is combine the gas station with the restaurant, but they did so in a bad location.
Needless to say that they didn't renew their franchise of the business and shortly after they let my father go and like 2 weeks later they closed up shop.
The rumors was that another company got the franchise for Utah, but I haven't heard anything else since... Really the owners should have expanded and built actual Steak N' Shake locations, but they just didn't understand the business.
Funny thing is that my father said that they got a advertising budget from the franchise, but the owners would never let him do any advertising. The one time that they actually did advertising my father said that they where almost as busy as the 1st month they where open.

I used to LOVE Steak n' Shake, but I feel that by the time one came to Utah, the quality had gone down from what I had in Ohio in 2001. The Oreo Shakes from the Centerville Location were good though.

Over a year ago they were pretty serious about putting a Steak n Shake in Logan. They had plans for the building and a location, just working to get approval from the city. Not sure what happened though. Maybe they realized the spot they picked was hard to get in and out of.

I doubt it was the same guys that opened at the Chevron.

There was supposed to be another company/person that purchased the franchise here in Utah, but I haven't heard  anything about it for a while.
I'll have to ask my father again and see if he heard anything yet.
What I found interesting is that there was only one location in Utah. The reason why we don't have Jack in the Box in Utah (Wasatch Front) is because you must open 5 locations and have 10 million dollars in liquid assets.
