Hey, that's Utah weather for ya.

I worked many days there in my time at Lagoon in weather like that. I once had to keep operating Flying Aces in a storm like that because rain is not a cause to shut the ride down, even though the ride was flooded there was so much water that the rides motor was under water.

There was lighting and thunder also a lot of wind. Also there were broken tree branches, a lot of the rides the operator just left due to the down pour.

I was thinking about how much that storm reminded me of a bigger storm back in 2001. After looking it up, I found it was almost on the same day and the same time at night when it hit.

That storm was much worse because of all the flooding. I remember getting on the interstate that night and hitting a puddle that sent a huge wall of water over us and we hydroplaned (or floated) the rest of the way through the puddle. It was crazy around the park that night too.

Also, the sunset before the storm was AMAZING. Just watch Lagoon's instagram story from last night. https://www.instagram.com/lagoonpark/

We were laughing at the abandoned rides. The lights were on but no one was home to operate it. Lol

Nothing quite as amazing as the great flood of August 2001, which I missed working at Cedar Point, when garbage cans were literally floating down the Midway from the north end to in front of Dragon's Exit.

Ian, were you working that night in 2003 or 2004 when there was a lightning bolt near the south end (there was talk it struck mouse) and the whole south end lost power for several minutes? That was fun. Never knew I could hop several fences running to Tidal Wave to get the OP away from it. Can't remember for sure who was the other AL, but he ran to TOTC and lowered it and we got everyone off. The Village was already closed though.

The flood of 2001 was awesome! I was working that day.

I was working that night. I remember the talk about it possibly hitting mouse. Must have been 2003 cause as I was a AL in Area 3 in 2004 and we had no run ins with Lightning that year.
